Up to 90% of all women will experience cellulite at some point in their lives. This common cosmetic concern affects women of every skin tone, skin type, and body weight. Women within their ideal weight range, and women with a few extra pounds to lose, may both be affected by cellulite.

Cellulite is an orange-peel or cottage-cheese-like appearance on the surface of the skin that occurs for a number of reasons, including genetic factors and hormonal fluctuations. It most often appears on the buttocks, thighs, and upper arms.
If we look beneath the skin in these areas affected by cellulite, we find that cellulite is caused by bands of connective tissue called “fibrous septae.”
